Xbox 360 dashboard to be updated tomorrow

Microsoft will update tomorrow the Xbox 360 consoles system software. The Fall System Update adds 1080p support and expanded video playback and streamlines Arcade menu. The biggest addition to the Fall System Update is obviously that Xbox 360s will now support the 1080p resolution. Just in time for November’s launch of the Xbox 360 external HD-DVD drive. Both games and videos will have the ability to be played back in the sharp resolution, and Microsoft has confirmed that existing Xbox 360 games can be upscaled to 1080p.

The built-in AuthorScript engine provides features within Windows Vista that help users archive digital memories to CDs and DVDs, create custom music discs, and perform important data backup functions. Sonic is also working with Microsoft to develop digital media applications that will optimize and enhance consumers’ experience with Windows Vista. Certified for Windows Vista applications will include a range of applications within Sonic’s Roxio product lines such as Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, burning, photo, video, and music tools. As part of the Windows Vista launch program agreement between Microsoft and Sonic, Microsoft will showcase Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 in a range of venues and programs as it prepares for the launch of Windows Vista.

Panasonic has developed 4-Layer BD-R Disc

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic) has developed a 4-layer Blu-ray Disc (BD) media using Te-O-Pd film for inorganic recording layers. Total capacity reaches 100 GB (25 GB for each layer). By using a Te-O-Pd film, the company claims to achieve 100 years durability.
