Walking Optimal Power Control firmware for LiteOn

The well known LiteOn firmware hackers CodeGuys have released an interesting unofficial firmware for the most recent LiteOn recorders. According to the release documentation, this version enables WOPC (Walking Optimum Power Control) recording for DVD+R media. The WOPC means constant monitoring of the recording process and immediate adjusting of write strategy on the fly.

LG has registered the name “Super Multi”

LG has registered the name “Super Multi” with the DVD Forum and now other brands need to obtain LG’s permission before allowing them to name DVD burners with the “Super Multi” name. In response, Asustek Computer will first understand the details of LG’s registration while BenQ will use its self-designated “DVD Cube” name.

Another power outage

It appears that our servers are cursed. We started the site with Sago Networks in August and out servers hardware broke down on us. We changed the hosting company, and now twice in one weeks time their UPS powerblock went down. Once again we are sorry for this downtime and hope that our ISP can serve us better in the future.
