BBB - BitBurners go Beta

Quite some time ago we decided the the old website platform does not support the operation of BitBurners.com very well and didn’t even offer a decent experience to our readers. We decided to make dramatic change to introduce a new web site platform, but changes are not alone in the software or technology. We are also adjusting ways we operate and our offering to the recording community.

  • Simplistic and user friendly user experience. Forget intrusive advertising, and complex web site hierachy. New BitBurners.com is lean, mean but still green.
  • Real content. Our old web site focused too much on daily news, which anyone could read at news.google.com also, and produced very little new information. The new BitBurners.com has less focus on news, but publishes more columns, articles and editorials instead - real and exclusive content. People are forever hungry to find new software downloads, and we keep offering that in the future as well. We will also broaden our scope from optical recording and multimedia to cover the whole converging field of digital technology as a whole. Obviosly we will not forget our roots that back to the early days of MP3 audio and CD-R recording in the 90’s. BitBurners will always be your source for recording and multimedia related information
  • Web 2.0. We strongly encourage our users to interact with us. We closed our old forum, which never was a huge success, but all of our content is available for you to content. Interactive BitBurners.com MediaBase continues to be an integral part of the site. Got something to say - well, say it here! Hundreds of thousands of readers visit this site monthly, so if you wish blog/publish yourself, then contact us and we take you in front of a huge audience.

Unfortunately one issue has not changed - we are still very low on human resources. The site is operated by only two people, an admistrator ‘ljpp’ and the trustworthy tech admin ‘xfiler’, supported by our excellent guide author and multimedia specialist ‘Siku’. The small amount of people combined to the fact we do this along with our civil life professions on the IT field lead to the fact we have very little man working hours available. As a result we were forced to launch this new web site premature, and in parallel with the old site. Something missing here - find it at our archives at old.bitburners.com (no longer maintained, but online) Wan’t contribute? Do not hesistate to contact us!

So here it is - welcome to the new BitBurners.com (beta). If Google can launch services while beta development stage, we sure as hell can do it too.

The new interface is looking very fine.

Are you planning to create some kind of subscription system also to the new site? I think the communication is a bit complicated this way. There wouldn’t need to be any kind of a forum, but some kind of a membership would nice… For posting selfmade guides, for example.

    What do you think?

Yes, we will be rolling a lot of updates to the site. Users can already register - we will have figure out the roles/rights to users that wish to post on this blog. It is possible in the new platform.

Regarding subscriptions - it has always been planned. I will trial one solution later today, hopefully. RSS subscriptions are of course core features of this platform.

Okay, we now have a subscription system installed and working (under testing). At the bottom of each post/comments there is a link:

“Notify me of followup comments via e-mail”

No registration needed, user can also un-subscripe at will (link included in every notification email.
