Xbox 360 mod chips

First rumours and reports of first mod chips for Xbox 360 are rising. The Engadget has received reports that the first chips will be available within a month, allowing to play backed up game copies.

There is a lot of fame to be earned in cracking the first next generation console, and there was no doubt that they were just waiting to the get their hands on a 360 and start working on a solution. It will be interesting to see how simple or complex the solution will be.

There are two sides to this story. On the other hand mod chips will launch a massive wave of Xbox 360 game title piracy. On the other hand, everyone than has the option to backup their expensive game DVD for safety reasons - a handy feature especially if there are kids or pets around!
