PlayStation 3 the new king of Britain

Despite that fact that the media takes every opportunity to bash PlayStation 3 and Sony, the most powerful game console has sold nicely in the UK. The source reports that more than 165.000 units have been sold in the first two days, which is about the same as Xbox 360 (70k) and Nintentdo Wii (105k) combined. The good result of PS3 is not record braeaking though, as Sony was able to sell 185.000 units of PlayStation Portables during it’s launch weekend.

That makes PS3 the fastest-selling home console in history, beating the Wii - which shifted 105,000 units during its launch weekend - and Xbox 360, with 70,000 sold.

Both Nintendo and Microsoft struggled to meet demand with their consoles, leading to stock shortages - but Sony previously stated that the UK would get around 220,000 of the 1 million PS3 units allocated to Europe for launch.
