Microsoft extends Xbox 360 warranty

Xbox 360 owners are getting a gift from Microsoft, according to MSN. The company says it’s extending the warranty on the Xbox 360. Instead of 90-days, the devices will now be covered for a full year. The change applies not only to new purchases, but also to those who already own an Xbox 360. Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 already had one year waranty.

Instead of 90-days, the devices will now be covered for a full year. The change applies not only to new purchases, but also to those who already own an Xbox. Microsoft promises a refund for anyone who paid to repair an Xbox they owned for less than a year.

The new warranty matches what’s offered by rivals Nintendo and Sony.

Microsoft acknowledged earlier this year that a glitch in the Xbox’s online update system damaged a small number of consoles before the problem was quickly fixed. At least one customer has sued, but Microsoft says that’s not influencing the decision to change the warranty.
