The adult entertainment industry has historically been rather quick to utilize new technology. Besides regular DVDs and VHS cassettes, we have seen interactive for an example erotic games for computers and game consoles. It has even been speculated that the adult entertainment industry may have a role in deciding the outcome of the high definition format war. Porn star Jenna Jameson and the Vivid entertainment is one of the biggest names in these markets. Vivid has not yet decided their position regarding HD-DVD or Blu-ray, but they are about to release in high definition in 2007.
‘We are very interested in [the two high-def formats],” Vivid co-founder Steven Hirsch told HMR, though the company will initially remain conservative in its approach to the next-gen formats. “While adult is always looked at as the new driver in technology, at some point it has to be affordable. [Blu-ray and HD DVD are] not there yet, although we are willing to take a chance because we feel the market will be very soon.”
