Exact Audio Copy V0.99pb1 released!
Whoops, we are a bit late with this one but the finest freeware audio CD ripper always deserves some attention. EAC, or Exact Audio Copy, has been recently updated to a version 0.99pb1. Although it is labeled as a pre-beta release, the quality of public EAC releases has usually been extremely good - better that many software advertised as “1.00 stable”. The new version comes with a nice pack of improvements, perhaps most notable being the inclusion of the FLAC, Free Lossless Audio Codec, which provides native support for audio compression at 100% CD quality. Check out the full list of changes and download!
- Better AccurateRip support (reading ranges and CD images)
- Improved log file output
- Flac encoder now comes with EAC
- Much improved configuration wizard
- Writing CD-Text using CDRDAO
- Copy and test range
- Added writing new tags for ID3V2 like duration, encoder settings and the CD TOC
- Correction of Xing header after writing ID3V2
- Drive options are now stored by the drive name and not by adapter and LUN
- Fixed many issues and bugs

I was looking for an app to write tags like Title and Duration, which on a DVD is a lot handier to identify a specific series of files than by Filename alone.
I know little about burning audio but have 11 CDs containing 2k MP3 audio files which is a series of lessons.
Any advice on how to organize these 55 books, identified by book, chapter and a sequential nummber would be greatly appreciated.
The series is available for free distribution with very few limitations, so if you are interested in a copy, email me.
