DVD Shrink is maybe the most popular DVD backup software. DVD Shrink based on algorithms designed to recompress an MPEG-2 stream in real-time for TV broadcast. It can transcode an entire DVD movie in only a few minutes, because it do not have to decode and re-encode the entire video stream, but only part of it. It’s easy to use, freeware, very fast and it can yield good quality.

In this guide we are trying to keep things as simple as possible. There are lots of options in the DVD Shrink that are not included in this guide. This guide is for beginners.
