Demand For DVD Discs To Grow 30-40% In 2006
The Japan Recording-Media Industries Association (JRIA) predicts that 2006 global demand for blank DVD discs (+R, -R, +RW, and -RW), will grow from 2005 by 41% to 5.541 billion discs, according to JRIA.
The Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK) of the government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), also present at the meeting, however, was more conservative than JRIA, and projected 2006 global demand to rise 30% from this year to about 5.0 billion DVD discs. The largest growth should occur for 16x DVD+R/-R and DVD+R/-R DL (single-sided double-layer) discs, IEK pointed out.
