    Cheers.

I had some old Monkey plug in for the .ape format, but could not remember how to install it so I can rip some ape files to mp3.

This should be handy as I have flac files also.

Thanks for taking the time to put this up for download.

How do I install it for Nero version 8?

  11. admin on December 28th, 2007

Officially these are not for Nero 8, but I have received comments that they do work. Just place them to the folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\AudioPlugins

I downloaded your FLAC plug-in to use in Nero 8 Ultra to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\AudioPlugins as you said. I can’t get nero to use the plug-in. It won’t recognize the flac files and even gives me a message, ” a plug-in may be needed for these files. What gives? Your help will be appreciated. THANKS

I use all the plug-ins in Nero 8.2.8.0 and they work like a charm. But I would love, if the binaries used for the plug-ins could be updated. Have seen that these are outdated: Shorten, Speex, OptimFROG, Monkeys Audio, Dolby Digital AC3, lame, FLAC, Musepack, Ogg vorbis and RealMedia.

remember that the folders Program files and common files, have localized names depending on your OS language. In danish the folder is:
    C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Nero\AudioPlugins\

Also remember that you must not remove the nx from the file name of the plug-in. Just keep the default file name. nxMyFLA.dll

Jonas, unfortunately the developer ‘MauSau’ has not updated the plugins for quite some time, and we haven’t heard from the guy in ages.

For recording audio files, I recommend Burrrrn which is a nice free application for the job.

NERO customer service sucks!!! DO NOT buy plug-ins from them online because if it doesn’t work for ANY reason, you are screwed out of your money! No if and buts about it! I’ve spent hours removing Nero, running a clean up tool, just to re-enter the serial number of the plug, and every time I open Nero, I get the same message “Your serial number supports additional features which are not installed on this system.” Unbelievable!

Where do you put the plugin if you want FLAC files to play on Showtime? I dont need to burn cd audio’s straight from FLAC so that aspect of burningROM is ok. I put the plugin in c:Programs/common/nero/audioplugins and …common/ahead/audioplugins and neither seems to get flac files playable on showtime.

    Thanks!

  43. eleetk on February 20th, 2008

    @Bill -
This solution works in XP, but not tested in VISTA. To suppress the “Your serial number supports additional features which are not installed on this system.” message, go to the start button, then click on run, or in vista use the “start search” field and type in and start “regedit”.
    Now migrate to:
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info
    - CHANGE “MissingFilesState”=”1″ TO “MissingFilesState”=”0″
    This should resolve it.

I am having problems with the FLAC codec with Nero 8. I have added it to the program files/common files/Nero/Audio Plugins and Nero is still unable to see Flac files when I search and when I click and drag it says the file type is not supported. Any suggestions? thanks.

  49. I FLAC Problem on March 12th, 2008

In Nero 8, FLAC plug-in got a problem:
I have installed the Plug-in and APE plug-in work ok.
But FLAC plug-in will let Nero down.
Everytime you read a .cue sheet (with FLAC file description), and Nero is down.
In Nero’s answer, it is problem with ‘nxMyFLA.dll’.
nxMyFLA.dll 1.0.0.33 or 1.0.0.26 have the same problem.
    Somebody could help?

  50. adam on March 19th, 2008

This works for Nero 7 too, but the location of the plug-ins is different. It is not C:\Program Files\ahead\Shared\AudioPlugins the new location is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins. If you had more than one version installed before, this is confusing. To confirm the audio plug-in location, see “Options…”

hey in NERO 8 try to burn the flac files to audio in NERO EXPRESS :) it works… don’t try to burn the flac from nero StartSmartcause it don’t work then…

  56. Catch on March 28th, 2008

Tkanks, is working right now, I hope nothing bad happened. Well done.

  57. jonas on April 4th, 2008

To of you stating that FLAC does not work. remember that this flac codec is build with flac 1.1.0 (very old from 2003) which cannot be updated, without having the source for the .dll-file.
    here’s the changelog for FLAC:
    http://flac.sourceforge.net/changelog.html

    in general:
if you are unsure whether the plugin is loaded or not check files->preferences->audio (or something like that, I’m using using danish version) click the options button. then there is a list of loaded plugins.

If someone have good programming skills, Nero have a SDK for developing plugins:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-sdk.html
    and a forum
    http://club.cdfreaks.com/f73/

Worked great on Nero 8, just got to make sure you put it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\AudioPlugins and not just C:\Program Files\Common Files\AudioPlugins.

  66. moreno on May 7th, 2008

    I ì’ll try the solution neeeded a.s.a.p.
    thanks

  67. Stearmandriver on May 9th, 2008

Yep, the .flac plugin works perfect on Nero 7, in the specified directory.

One caveat - the plugin works to transcode or burn a .flac file, but it still will not PLAY a .flac file… you need to convert to .mp3 or something first.
